Like the AeroPress, this little barista-to-go relies on elbow grease — in this case, a manual pump built into the handle that fills the air chamber with 16 bars of pressure. The concept is great, and it’s easy enough to use, but we had a few issues: The smallish basket for grounds doesn’t accommodate a standard tamper, so it’s hard to pack tightly without making a mess. Also, the DomePod prepares only one shot at a time. And because the air pressure drops as you pour, the resulting espresso is a bit thin and bitter. Of the three products we tested, it sent the most grounds into our drink.
